Grace Lutheran School was founded in 1982 as an educational arm of Grace Lutheran Church which belongs to the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).
GRACE LUTHERAN
Preschool through 8th grade. Preschool children must be two years old, potty training is not required. Jr. Kindergarten students must be 4 years old by September 1. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1. Full day Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten is offered. Departmentalized middle school format is offered for grades 6-8.
Preschool half day session is 8:30 am – 12 Noon; full day session is 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Jr. Kindergarten half day session is 8:15 am – 12:15 pm; full day session is 8:15 am – 2:45 pm. Kindergarten through 5th grade is 8:10 am – 2:45 pm; 6th – 8th grade is 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Preschool – 8th grade is fully acredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
In the elementary and middle school, state approved textbooks are used for all subjects other than religion. The curriculum is reviewed and updated on a regular basis. The preschool curriculum adheres to the California Learning Foundations.

Class Size
To ensure a quality program, normal class size is 24 students or fewer per class, K-8, except in rare instances. A teacher assistant is assigned to each Kindergarten class. Our preschool program maintains an 8 to 1 student teacher ratio during academic time.

Steam Program
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Students in K-5 will be participating in a program called Launch that was developed by Cal Poly Pomona’s Project Lead The Way. Middle School students will be offered a Medical Detective class, which is a component of Project Lead The Way’s Gateway program as an elective.

Music and Art
All students enjoy both music and art as part of their designated curriculum. In K-8, both are taught by specialized teachers with advanced training in these subjects.

M.I.N.D. Program
This math and music program provides non-language based computer math games along with specialized music curriculum to teach problem solving skills to our 1st through 5th grade students and to increase their math performance on standardized tests.

Computer Education

Chapel
Chapel occurs weekly and is led by pastoral and church leadership staff. Students in the middle school are provided leadership and technician opportunities. Our school instrumental and praise bands provide the musical component.
OTHER PROGAMS
After-school sports are offered to students 4-8. A wide variety of other curriculum activities are offered including cooking club, homework club, music lessons, student government and scouting.
Each year the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) is administered to students in grades 1-8. Classes consistently score above the national average. Graduates of Grace Lutheran School enter high school well-prepared to take grade level, accelerated or honors level classes.
For the convenience of our working families, extended care is offered for all ages. Preschool care is from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Jr. Kindergarten through 8th grade care is from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Further information is available in the registration materials.
Appropriate field trips are offered for all students Preschool – 8th grade. Camps are offered for students 5th – 8th grade.
