On August 11, 2012, Ms. Spillane was in a car accident that left her a paraplegic. After years of physical therapy, she re-enrolled in school at Cerritos Community College. It was there she decided to enroll in the Teacher TRAC program. She graduated from Cerritos on the President’s Honor Role with her AA as well as her AAT. Bailey graduated from CSULB in the Spring of 2019, with her bachelor’s in liberal studies, as well as her multiple subject teaching credential. Bailey conducted her student teaching within the Long Beach Unified School District. Her second semester at CSULB was spent studying abroad in Australia as the first disabled student to do so. Bailey’s car accident inspired her to learn how to drive a car with hand controls and she has even attempted adaptive skiing and surfing. Bailey has two corgis and frequents Disneyland with her boyfriend, Jimmie. She loves the Los Angeles Dodgers, coffee, art, and going to the movies. Bailey has showcased some of her paintings at the Long Beach Museum of Latin American Art, as well as at CSULB. Bailey is a proud part of the STEAM Dream Team here at Grace and cannot wait to meet and share her love of art with students from JK to the eighth grade.
